Overview
Each week league members battle it out for the win by selecting their best possible line up from their team. Scoring is based on a point-based system where players on your team are awarded a set number of fantasy points for every stat they earn in real life. The following points are awarded for each corresponding stat. Kicks 3 points, handballs 2 points, marks 3 points, hit outs 1 point, tackles 4 points, free kicks for 1 point, free kicks against -3 points, goals 6 points and behinds 1 point.
League Creation
Create a league, become the commissioner and invite your friends to play. Alternatively join one of your friends existing public teams and start researching for the draft. Commissioners have an option of the number of members they want in their league. Before the draft they can also move around the draft order of members. Once the draft commences this will be fixed. In ‘General Settings’ you can choose to activate the ‘Advanced Settings’ for further options.
Dynasty, Re-Draft & Manual Selection
Choose either to play Dynasty or Re-draft game modes. The Dynasty style allows you to stay with the same players and league members in your current League even after the season is complete. A draft happens at the start of each new season from a pool of rookies and free agents available in the specific league. Members will need to drop players in order to pick new players from the draft as no new allocated draft spots will become available. New season drafts in Dynasty will be ordered via the ‘Linear’ draft set-up where a member who picks first in the first round will also pick first in the second round.
Playing the Re-draft game mode will reset all teams in that League at the start of each season and a new draft takes place. You will need to create a new league for this. Please be aware there is no confirmation pop-up window at present when picking a player so be careful and choose wisely.
If you are migrating over from another platform with an existing League you can choose the ‘Existing League’ option which will allow each member to manually draft their own players. Try and do this as quickly as possible to avoid not being ready for round 1 or rookie drafts. Currently traded draft picks can be exchanged once all members have selected their teams and the League is ready to go.
Commissioners will have the ability to choose who can join their League under the ‘Who can join’ tab. This include ‘Only people with League ID’ or ‘Anyone’. If you choose the first options you can share the League code with your team members. If you choose the second, anyone who has downloaded the game can get involved and will see the League option when they click on ‘Join League’ button in the Home menu.
Select the number of Members you would like to join your League via the ‘Number of Teams’ option. This ranges, via even numbers, between 6 – 18. Once all Members have joined the Commissioner has the ability to change the draft order of Members.
Draft Type
Choose between a ‘Snake’, ‘Linear’ or ‘Auction’ draft and the ‘Time per pick’. Time per pick can range from 30 seconds, for fast drafts up to 24hrs for slower drafts. Also decide on a date and time you would like the draft to take place. Please note this time is based on AWST. Again please be aware that you import previously traded draft picks and if existing leagues are joining with previously traded draft picks, we suggest trading them once the League is set-up.
Snake draft is when the draft reverses back and forth between who picks first and last every round. The first pick in the first round is the last pick in the second round.
Linear drafting is where the draft order repeats every round so the Member who picks first in the first round will pick first in the second round.
The Auction draft method allows team members to choose players and put them up for auction. Team Members can bid on this player until the clock runs out. At this point, the highest bidder will win this player. Teams will be given credits to bid toward players. Once their credits run out, they can still nominate players to be put to auction when it is their turn, and other Members can still bid on this player. If no one bids on this player, then the team that nominated that player will claim them in their team. If you begin your Dynasty League with an auction this will default to a Linear draft the following year for the rookie draft. If you decide to play the Dynasty option, after the team setup is complete (auction/draft/manual selection) you can select how many ‘New Season Draft Rounds’ you want for the rookie draft following year. This gives you the opportunity to select rookie or existing players.
During the Auction draft the commissioner has the ability to choose a player for anyone Member in the League. They also have the ability to choose ‘Next Turn’ is a player is absent to speed up the process. Be careful of this as Commissioner as any mistakes are irreversible.
Please note if a Commissioner leaves the draft, the draft will pause until they are back in. This will assist Leagues that are drafting through the night.
Scoring options
As previously mentioned the following points are awarded for each corresponding stat of the players in your weekly starting line up. Kicks 3 points, handballs 2 points, marks 3 points, hit outs 1 point, tackles 4 points, free kicks for 1 point, free kicks against -3 points, goals 6 points and behinds 1 point.
If you want to play with Captains and Vice Captains in your team please enable the ‘Captains’ option. This will allow you to nominate a player each week who’s score is doubled. If your Captain is injured and you are playing with the ‘Time on ground threshold’ then the Vice Captain’s score will replace the Captains as the doubled score and the emergency player’s score will replace the Captains if the Captain plays under the threshold.
The ‘Max Points For’ option is also available. This will add the total amount of points a team’s highest scorers score for the season to show what the maximum outcome could have been achieved. This will also determine, teams out of the top 8, ladder positions the following year. Max Points helps prevent tanking.
Waivers
During the season you are able to claim players off the waivers from week to week. Leagues can choose to do this via the ‘Waiver Claims’ options of ‘Priority’ or ‘WAM bidding (silent auction)’. Please note waiver claims will process once a week at 12pm each Tuesday, AWST. Dynasty Exchange will look to offer further waiver claim nights in the future but this option has not yet been actioned.
‘Priority’ claims, rotates League Member’s priority order. The team with the highest priority can claim any player off the waiver first, then they become the lowest priority. If two Members bid for the same player the Member with the highest priority will claim that player. If a League Member selects to choose multiple players from the waiver their first choice will activate their top priority and move them to the bottom of the order so their second choice will be picking with the Member’s priority being at the bottom of the priority order.
‘WAM bidding (WAM)’ or ‘Waiver Agent Money’ allows League Members to silent bid for players off the waiver each week. When a team bids on a player the WAM is taken from their balance. Once that week's waivers are processed the highest bid will then claim that player. Teams will be given 1000 WAM credits to bid toward players at the beginning of each season. In the event two or more teams bid for the same player with the same amount of WAM then the bid which was first placed will win that player. Members who bid on a player and are unsuccessful will have their nominated WAM credits refunded.
There are two ‘Lock Waiver’ options. The ‘Open Immediately’ option will give League’s the ability to keep the waivers open all year round. There will be no close off date for this, even after the season is finished. Leagues will need to monitor this if they decide to update their internal waiver preferences as this options cannot be reversed.
The second option is to lock waivers ‘Until Round 2’. This will prompt waiver to be locked from the end of the season until round two of the following season.
Line Ups
Decide how you want your line up to look when setting up a league. Choose how many backs, mids, forwards, rucks, emergencies and bench players you want in each team. This is great for Dynasty style play as you can have a deep bench ranging from 4 – 29 players. You can also choose to have, or not have, an emergency player to cover your starting line up. If you choose to have an emergency player then you pair this up with the ‘Time On Ground Threshold’ option.
T.O.G. Threshold
The option of a ‘Time On Ground Threshold’ which allows 0% or 25% of a player’s time on ground. If a player’s TOG falls below 25% then the emergency will come into play.
Play Time
Once your settings are ready its time to draft! Once the draft time has passed Commissioner’s will need to start the draft. During the draft Commissioner’s will have the ability to skip another Members pick. This will automatically choose a player for that Member that is highest on the player’s ADP position. The Commissioner’s will also have the ability to choose a player for another Member in the event a Member looses connection or cannot enter the draft. Commissioners need to be careful not to accidentally pick a player for another Member as this cannot be reversed.
Members can ‘Queue’ players using the star button which will appear in the Queue tab. They can then choose these players from that tab. They will also be able to see other Member’s and their own past picks by looking at either the ‘Team’s’ tab or the ‘Completed Draft Picks’ pull up tab. In the ‘Team’s’ tab this will also show those chosen player’s positions.
Completed Draft
When the draft has finished each League Member will be able to see their team under the ‘My Team’ TAB in their App. By clicking on players, you will be able to see a more in-depth summary of their stats and past scores. Nominate players into your starting line up and rotate them from week to week with your bench to create the best line up possible. Dynasty Exchange will automatically create a match up each week against other Members in your league. At the end of each week the team with the most points in your match-up will be awarded the win and progress up the ladder.
The Following Draft
The next steps are for Dynasty Leagues. Once the initial team setup is complete Commissioners will be able to see an option called ‘Rookie Draft’. If you click on ‘Setup draft’ this will prompt you to create a draft for the following year. This will ask you to choose a ‘Time’, ‘Time Per Pick’ along with the ‘Number of Rounds’. The ‘Number of Rounds’ will determine how many draft picks each Member will be allocated in the League for the next 3 years. Ie. If you choose 5 rounds, this will give each Member 5 draft picks per year, for the next 3 years. You can then trade these with other Members. Please be aware if you select players in a draft or waiver, your team will become over capacity (have too many players) and you will need to drop players. When you team is over capacity, you will not score any points.
Trading
Trading players and future draft picks can be done throughout the year keeping you invested in Dynasty Exchange all year round. Trading draft picks is particularly fun for those playing the Dynasty style game. Propose a trade via the ‘Trade’ button in the ‘My Teams’ tab with other members of your league and select the player(s) and/or future draft pick(s) you’d like to trade over. The other League Member can choose to accept or decline your trade offer. If accepted all League Members will be notified of the trade.
Ladder & Finals
Throughout the season League Members will move up and down the ladder based on their wins and losses. Once the Dynasty Exchange finals are reached those in the top 8 will match up and play off to win their League’s Trophy. Standard finals rounds will be played and include Elimination, Semi, Preliminary and the Grand Final. The top two teams who progress through will play for the Grand Final.
Teams that finish below the 8 (less for smaller leagues) will also play off for the Wooden Spoon position. This will be the same set up as the top 8’s final structure where the winner will progress to the next round. In the event your League is set up to use the MaxPF option, each round’s two losing teams will have their final positions determined by the ‘Max Points For’ rule. This prevents a team trying to tank (loose).
